Once a young man who rose up from nothing, scorned by his own tribe due to his 'cursed' Allagan Eye-- The Crystal Exarch is a leader among leaders.
In the act of joining himself to the core of Syrcus Tower, a massive spike of blue crystal gilded in gold, he became immortal at the sacrifice of some of his humanity. His skin has in part, transformed into living crystal. It encompasses the fullness of his right arm entirely and most of his torso-- in order to preserve vital organs. It creeps up his neck, covering the magicked marks that once identified him to all who could see as an Archon of Sharlyan. He had, despite his humble upbringing, attained one of the highest ranks one could have-- and as a student of Baldesion, became known as the premier historian on ancient Allag in his field.
Young G'raha Tia however, yearned for more than this. He was driven by a force sight-unseen: A need to know the truth of his cursed crimson eye.
This led him to Syrcus Tower, suddenly re-emerged in the wake of the calamity and re-claiming of some small measure of Mor Dhona's wild wilderness. With Cid Nan Garlond's Ironworks and the Warrior of Light at his side, he faced his destiny and found the truth: That his was the last true bloodline of the Allagan royal line, making him the only living being with the ability to activate and control the Tower's true power. Knowing that the power could not be trusted in the hands of man so divided by war-- and so at risk to the Garlean threat-- he chose to seal himself and the Tower away into a deep sleep, never to wake until humanity was ready.
This hope of a bright future was not to be, and the world G'raha left behind fell to ruin. A descendant of Cid's Ironworks employees woke him from his sleep in a desperate attempt to save their world: By breaking the barriers of time and space.
With his power fully awakened, G'raha transported the whole of Syrcus Tower to the parallel world of the First, a shard of their source world and one of many reflections of it. From there he used the near infinite power of Syrcus Tower to reach across the rift and pull, first grasping those closest to the Warrior of Light, and then finally managing to pull them across.
For one hundred years, G'raha has not heard his name spoken. He has been the Crystal Exarch: Beacon of hope to a nearly obliterated world for all that time and more.

Important info for interactions with him:
His right arm and torso (encompassing all vital organs, basically)are completely encompassed in blue crystal, shot through with thick veins of pure gold. This is living crystal, so while it is relatively hard to the touch it is also flexible and has some give when pressed upon. It is visible on the sides of his neck, spreading just slightly up to his left cheek under his eye. His left arm and thighs/legs are free from this transformation.
Aside from this: He is a Miqo'te (read, anime cat boy with ears and tail) ! His ears are usually hidden under his hood, and he keeps his tail tucked beneath the layers of his robes.
On his cowl:
If he's wearing his hood up, it is magicked with a glamour. Without his releasing said magics, you will find it nearly impossible to remove or even see under it. The shadow cast over his eyes is also magicked and seems to move with him to block any prying gazes from seeing further than he would like.
